Supersize Me

Nepal is not only the country of the big mountains but also a country of big volume rapids. It is just a matter of the right timing to hit it big here in this country of superlatives.

The Upper Seti and the Sun Koshi had the right water level to make them enjoyable Nepalese grade III big volume fun.

During monsoon (July-August) Nepal is green and lush and offers some exceptional big volume whitewater fun. Obviously the harder rivers don`t run at all but rivers which are straight forward rafting rivers during the fall season become great runs in the high water times.

The 270km of the Sun Koshi river were paddled in 2 days (roughly 16 hours) and the unavoidable flat bits of a matured river were usually enjoyable wave trains.

The upper Seti definitely is a blast during high water and gives you a continuous grade IV river for roughly 15kms. Some big holes are to be avoided and you should have your lines dialed to keep it calling fun.

In a nutshell, for whitewater, Nepal`s season is not only based on October and November but usually will offer 12 months of some of the best whitewater to be found.
