High Road Explorer Route 219
Just as the railroad opened up the American West, the dust track of Route 219 eternally altered the Tibetan and Chinese far west, making accessible in days a region where travel was once measured by months and seasons. A tour from the steaming jungles of Nepal over the Himalayas and along the old trading routes of Tibet into the hidden valleys of Xinjiang and the mystical city of Kashgar and Lhasa. A journey past monasteries, gigantic peaks, deep river gorges and exotic oases.

Nepal and Tibet are high on the list for many adventure travelers and many have walked the known paths. Shivaoutdoors now is able to offer you an exclusive exploratory trip along some known sights and over some forbidden passes. With our solid Expedition vehicle we invite 6 adventurers willing to share the hardship of exploration and the pleasure of discovery. New roads will be driven, landslides to be overcome, rivers and falls kayaked, the Gobi Desert to be crossed and high passes to be challenged. Additionally there are adventures on tour, as the try of climbing Muztag Ata (7400m), a high moutain in the west of China with hopefully some high altitude skiing/snowboarding. Join if you dare.
We will assemble our team (snowboarders/skiers, cyclists, kayakers and other crazies) in Kathmandu, Nepal from where we will start driving along the Kodari Highway into Tibet. Once in Nyema we will turn off from the Kathmandu Lhasa highway and will travel straight to Mt. Kailash which lays 4 Days of drive to the West. Our first really big holy sight will be trekked around and after 3 Days of hiking we will start to leave the known roads (officially this is not allowed to travel but we do have the permission). An Army supply road from Mt. Kailash to Kashgar is crossing many high passes and a very seldom visited area of Tibet. With our experienced blue monster truck we will challenge this tough road with its high passes of over 5000m and after crossing the Gobi Desert we should arrive within 10 Days in Kashgar. This is time to rest, see some of the old town (there`s not much left) and do some servicing of the truck and other organizing before we are heading towards Muztag Ata.
This expedition now is at its highest point (once we summit) with 7400m. The climb is voluntary but is technically not very challenging. We will allow 2 weeks for this summit, means not interested parties can go out for some trekking in the beautiful regions around Muztag Ata. After the summit, we will start driving back to Nepal via Chengdu with a stop over in Lhasa and Everest Northface Base Camp.
